Student Property Cleans

DB Logo White Graduate

Do you own a student property or are you a student looking for your student accommodation to be cleaned before you leave? We can help…

If you’re a student, we know just how stressful it can be to make sure the property is left in the same condition as it was handed over to you and making sure everything on the property checklist is complete. We are here to help. We have vast experience of cleaning HMOs, dealing directly with landlords/agents and helping to ensure you get as much of your deposit back as possible.

Advice

So you’ve spent your first year in halls and you’ve had a great time. You’ve made new friends, tried to cook more than Super Noodles, set the smoke detector off, realised that clean clothes don’t just appear in your waldrobe and built up your own routine. At first is was a bit scary, but you got there, gained your independance and now the next step is moving into a house with your uni mates!

When it comes to taking responsiblity for the property, all of you are responsible for it, but in practice, and in our experience, there is always a leader or house ‘mum’. If you are fortunate enough to all feel the same way regarding the cleanliness of the property then you are on to a rarity, however we would recommend that you all get on board – trust us, you’ll thank us later.

When it comes to getting your deposit back at the end of your tenancy, not all landlords or agents are built the same and your experience will almost certainly not match your peers, of which will be different to their peers, but there are simple things you can do to help retain as much of your deposit as it possible and almost all of it falls down to cleanliness (yeah, boring, but true!).

  1. Tidy up after yourself (especially in communual areas)
  2. When cooking, wash up immediately after you have eaten.
  3. Wipe down kitchen worktops every day
  4. Buy a hoover (collectively) and actually use it
  5. Clean the bathroom(s) at least once a week
  6. Do not treat the house like an adventure play park – respect the property and treat it like it belonged to your granny!
  7. Parties – If you want to have parties, keep food and drink in the kitchen or where there is hard flooring. If there is a spillage, you could ruin a carpet and this becomes very expensive very quickly.
  8. If you spill something, wipe it up immediately

Jokes aside, if you look after the property you are in, have an open dialogue with the landlord/agent should you encounter any defects in the property and keep the property clean and tidy, when it comes to receiving your deposit back, you stand a much, much higher chance to getting it back.

Professional Cleaning

Your contract will most likely stipulate that upon exit of the tenancy, the property must be professionally cleaned before handing the keys back – this is where we come in.

If you have been kind to yourself and followed our advice, the clean should be quick and cost effective, but in the unlikely event (jokes) that you haven’t followed our advice, the cleaning will take substantially longer, which could increase the cost significantly. If you need our help, what will we do for you? Well. let us tell you….

We will:

  • Deep clean the Kitchen, including Oven, Hob & Hood, Washing Machine, Fridge Freezer and Cabinets
  • Deep Clean all Bathrooms
  • Wipe all surfaces within the property including window sills, window frames and skirting boards
  • Hoover the entire property
  • Dust high and hard to reach areas
  • Liaise with your landlord/agent (if required)

We won’t:

  • Carpet Clean – We have professional carpet cleaning contractor that we can recommend
  • Fix damage to the property
  • Replaces fixtures, handles and bulbs
  • Repaint areas of the property that require a ‘touch up’
  • Tell your landlord that you have been an angel, when you haven’t

How Much Do We Charge?

We charge £35 per man hour. This includes all the products and equipment required to deep clean the property.

The time it takes depends on the state and size of the property, so when budgeting, assume the cost will be no more than £280 (8hrs). In a clean, well maintaned property, it can take a lot less time that this and in a large, poorly maintained property it can take longer, but £280 is a good budget to complete all of the work.
